INSTALLATION “LIVING WALLPAPER”

 

The installation „Living Wallpaper“ of Meike Entenmann vitalizes ingrain wallpaper. The work consists of small and big sized oval convex objects bulging out of the wallpaper; in their arrangement they look like an ancestral portrait gallery. The oval objects are ornated with embroideries and reminds of picture frames. Inside you will find different monograms, borrowed from ancient pillow case embroideries. In this sense every oval object gets an individual face. But the installation is not an homage to the past, the ovals are like living creatures, emerging from the wall. In this respect an association can be formed to former, present and future generations. Another aspect of the installation are the red lines which run across the wallpaper. Some lines cross each other, others seem to run parallel. This reminds us in their appearance like strong tracks of life. The color red is symbolizing the strength; the thread is symbolizing the path.
